
Mt Wycheproof Cup – Derby Day in the Country – is a major event on the Country Racing Victoria's spring Carnival calendar. This popular event is listed in the top 50 (at No. 41) on the RACV's 2009 101 Must Do events in Victoria. Run on the picturesque Mt Wycheproof Racecourse, at the northern end of the township, Derby Day in Country – Mt Wycheproof Cup grows in popularity and is a great day out for the whole family. The racecourse offers great amentities and is a short walk from hotels and motel accommodation. On course punting is with bookmakers and TAB.
A great family day out, this race meeting holds something for everyone from the thrill as the horses thunder round the home turn, to the Fashions on the Field, live cross to Flemington races on the big screen, children's activities and bands that will have everyone on their feet.

Wycheproof puts on a warm welcome to cup day visitors and the Mt Wycheproof Cup continues some fine local traditions with luncheon and afternoon tea served in track-side, in the airconditioned comfort of the Wycheproof Golf Clubrooms and catered for by the Friends of East Wimmera – Wycheproof ladies who are renown for their scrumptious home-baked delicacies. The Derby Day in the Country Arts and Craft exhibition has captured the imagination of local artists young and old. The exhibition showcases the work of individuals and groups, and is well supported by local schools. All entries have racing as the theme and sections include the use of recycled materials, paintings and drawings, sculpture, plus millinery and fashion accessories. Held as a fundraiser for the Wycheproof Art & Crafts & Information Shop , the exhibition is coordinated by the Wycheproof Community Resource Centre The exhibition is open from the Thursday to the Sunday of the cup weekend.
Racegoers are encouraged to stay in town and enjoy a hearty breakfast and the Sunday morning Market Day on Broadway and enjoy a long weekend in Wycheproof.
